The primary role of the SA is to assist our account teams in realising pipeline opportunities by creating Level 1 (L1) and Level 2 (L2) solutions utilising our existing products and services. This customer-facing position provides pre-sales capabilities to the VBIC Sales team, requiring a deep understanding of the L1 and L2 products and services relevant to VBIC. The SA should also be well-versed in the customer landscape within the Carrier Services business environment.
Key responsibilities include engaging with a broad range of contacts within customer organisations to determine the most appropriate technology solutions that meet both customer and VBIC needs. It's crucial that SAs respond to requests for new technology or technology-derived solutions from the customer. Additionally, they should proactively identify opportunities to deploy VBIC solutions within the customer's environment.
Collaboration is key, as the SA will work closely with other members of the VBTS Carrier Technology and VBIC teams, including those within the wider Vodafone Corporate environment. This encompasses various disciplines such as Service Management, Sales, Commercial Operations, Network Planning, Product, Programmes, and Projects. The goal is to ensure that the deployed technology solution is fit for purpose, readily deployable, and operable in a profitable manner.
The key deliverables for an SA are high-quality, commercially viable technology solutions approved by both the customer and all internal stakeholders. The SA is responsible for creating the relevant documentation to established standards, detailing the proposed solution that will be contracted with the customer. They must also ensure that VBIC Sales have a full and clear understanding of the client's requirements by managing customer expectations, enabling VBTS to deliver a high-quality solution within realistic timeframes.
Key accountabilities include developing, understanding, and codifying requirements for all solutions in their designated technology areas and serving as the technical single point of contact for Carrier line of business and Carrier Customers during the requirements capture phase.
- Over 5 years' experience in telecom environments, specifically within solution consultancy or network planning
- Excellent communication skills with proven experience working in international technical virtual teams
- A track record of identifying, influencing, and negotiating with technical decision-makers
- Expertise in creating solution designs to address specific customer requirements, from agreed requirements through conceptual and logical to physical designs
- Practical experience in technical assessments, planning, solutions design, including detailed cost base assessment for all required equipment/technical components
- Proven knowledge of telecommunication limits of candidate products/technologies and identifying high-level options to fulfil customer business needs/fit with strategy
- The ability to understand customer business requirements and drivers, steer technical customer counterparts, and transform initial requirements into technical solutions
- Comfort operating at senior management level in terms of order-to-cash processes and typical tools/systems (e.g., Beethoven, Cramer)
- Experience handling solution designs within multi-disciplined technical environments, with specific proven experience in L1 (DWDM, OTNs) multi-platform environments
- Familiarity with Ciena and Huawei TX equipment
- Practical experience handling L1 complex solutions for core and access network segments from both a network planning and solution design perspective
- Comfort with L2 NGEth environments (EVPLS, EVPNs)
- Technical understanding of L3 BGP/HSRP architectures
- 3+ years of proven experience within carrier-grade environments in a solution consultancy role
- Practical knowledge of business metrics (AOV, TCV, MAOV), with the confidence to self-assess activities yielding high contributions and prioritise accordingly
- Proven ability to build and coordinate cross-functional technical solution teams and work with a wide variety of colleagues in a virtual and global team environment
- A technical degree or equivalent knowledge
