Head Trading Desk

Key Responsibilities:

1. Trade Execution & Client Servicing

• Oversee end-to-end trade execution for institutional long-only clients, ensuring accuracy, speed, and minimal market impact.
• Manage client order flow and ensure seamless coordination with the sales and research teams.
• Maintain consistent engagement with fund managers, dealers, and execution heads at long-only clients.
• Ensure transparent and timely communication of market color, liquidity insights, and trading trends to clients.

2. Market Intelligence & Strategy

• Monitor and analyze market movements, fund flows, and volume patterns to provide actionable trading insights.
• Advise clients and internal teams on market depth, liquidity, and potential execution strategies.
• Contribute to trading strategies aligned with client mandates and market conditions.
• Support the sales team in enhancing wallet share and client activity through proactive market engagement.

3. Risk & Compliance Management

• Ensure adherence to all SEBI, NSE, BSE, and internal trading and compliance policies.
• Monitor exposures, trade limits, and counterparty risks in real time.
• Maintain robust checks and controls to prevent errors, unauthorized trades, or policy breaches.
• Liaise with risk, compliance, and operations teams to ensure smooth trade settlement and regulatory reporting.

4. Relationship Management

• Build and sustain deep, trust-based relationships with key buy-side dealers, fund managers, and compliance officers at long-only funds.
• Represent the firm as a trusted execution partner for institutional clients.
• Coordinate with corporate access and research teams to support client engagement initiatives.

5. Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and mentor a team of institutional traders, ensuring consistent performance and professional growth.
• Foster a disciplined, client-centric, and high-integrity trading culture.
• Implement performance metrics to drive efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness within the desk.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Deep understanding of market microstructure, equity and derivatives execution, and trading systems.
• Strong network and relationships with institutional long-only investors, including mutual funds and insurance firms.
• Expertise in handling large order books with minimal impact cost and adherence to compliance norms.
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and real-time problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with trading platforms
• Exposure to algo or quant-based trading systems is an advantage.
