Head Designing

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of Current Transformers (LT/HT, wound type, resin-cast, toroidal, split-core, bar-type).
  • Own complete product lifecycle: concept, feasibility, design calculations, prototyping, validation, certifications, and release to production. • Ensure CT designs comply with IEC/IS standards (e.g., IEC 61869 series) for accuracy class, burden, safety, and thermal/mechanical performance. • Conduct electromagnetic, thermal, and short-circuit withstand calculations; optimize core selection, winding design, insulation systems, and material specifications. • Develop and maintain technical documents: BoMs, design files, drawings, SOPs, validation reports, and FMEA. • Work with manufacturing to ensure design manufacturability, resin-casting optimization, tooling improvements, and quality consistency. • Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives without compromising accuracy or performance. • Interface with customers for technical discussions, customization requirements, and application engineering support. • Lead type testing and certification activities with accredited labs (ERDA, CPRI, NABL labs). • Collaborate with supply chain for evaluation and approval of core, copper, insulation, and moulding materials. • Implement DFM, DFA, DFMEA, and structured NPD processes. • Mentor and guide a team of CT design engineers; build strong technical capability within the team. • Monitor industry trends, competitor technologies, and evolving standards for product roadmap planning.

Required Experience & Skills

• 1218 years of experience in design and development of LT/HT Current Transformers (mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of IEC/IS standards for measuring and protection CTs. • Hands-on experience in magnetic circuit design, core material selection, winding design, and insulation coordination. • Experience in resin-cast CT design, tool design interface, and manufacturing alignment. • Experience with type testing, routine testing, and certification processes. • Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving mindset, and structured approach to design. • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage multiple product development projects.
