Core duties and responsibilities

• Machine operation and setup:

  Operate and adjust tube mill machinery, including welders, corrugators, and swagers, based on production orders and specifications.

• Quality control:

  Perform in-process and final inspections, using measurement tools like calipers and micrometers to verify tube dimensions, weld integrity, and overall quality.

• Equipment maintenance:

  Conduct routine cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of equipment. Assist maintenance personnel with more complex troubleshooting and repairs to ensure maximum uptime.

• Production monitoring:

  Monitor the flow of raw materials (steel coils) and the production process to ensure efficiency and minimize waste.

• Documentation:

  Complete production logs, quality reports, and maintenance records accurately.

• Material handling:

  Move raw materials, finished products, and production waste using tools and machinery like forklifts.

• Safety compliance:

  Adhere to all company safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures.

Key qualifications and skills

• Education and training:

  A high school diploma or GED is typically required, with on-the-job training provided. Technical college courses or a certification in a relevant trade are often preferred.

• Experience:

  Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is usually required, with specific experience as a tube mill or machine operator being a significant advantage.

• Mechanical aptitude:

  A strong understanding of machinery and mechanical systems is essential for setting up and troubleshooting equipment.

• Attention to detail:

  The ability to notice small defects and ensure high-quality standards are maintained is critical.

• Physical stamina:

  The job often requires lifting and handling heavy materials, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions if the facility is not temperature-controlled.
