Job Description

Role & responsibilities

The Managing Editor is responsible for the successful delivery of projects for a particular product line, from contract signing until delivery of final product.

This includes managing costs, schedules and fiscal output budgets; keeping stakeholders informed of any variance; maintaining high-level contact with the author/editor throughout the project life cycle; and ensuring the quality of the final product(s).

The Managing Editor is accountable for, but does not actually carry out, the functions carried out by the Content Operations resources.

Key Skills:

  • Relationship management

. The candidate must be proficient in German and English

  • Excellent English verbal & written communication
  • Ability to internalize learning/training/experiences (on the job) on key

product/market/customer needs author motivations (e.g. Reference vs. Trade author)

and apply them to situations to make decisions

  • Ability to facilitate/lead meetings and discussions
  • Being proactive in identifying and leading/facilitating resolution of issues
