General Ledger Accountant

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant will support accurate and timely bookkeeping activities for the company, including posting and processing journal entries, maintaining accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements and annual audits during period-end closes. The ideal candidate should have a sound understanding of accounting principles and internal financial controls to effectively carry out these responsibilities.

This role reports to the India Hub Lead and works closely with the Senior GL Accountant to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of GL accounting activities.

Role & responsibilities

• Perform GL accounting activities with accuracy and integrity, ensuring financial transparency.
• Record and process journal entries, maintaining clear and ethical financial documentation.
• Conduct account reconciliations proactively and independently, while seeking collaboration when necessary.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, ensuring clarity, compliance, and accessibility.
• Complete period-end close activities efficiently, fostering team collaboration to meet fiscal deadlines.
• Raise queries that require expert judgment, contributing to collective decision-making within the team.
• Provide insights and data to support audits and regulatory reviews, ensuring compliance and transparency.

Ensure GL Accounting Compliance

• Perform GL activities aligned with evolving accounting principles, promoting best practices and ethical accounting.
• Ensure period-end close activities are managed with efficiency and flexibility, collaborating with impacted teams.
• Uphold R2R controls while actively participating in continuous process improvements for efficiency gains.
• Apply financial expertise to ensure accuracy in transactions, maintaining clear and accessible documentation.

Collaborate & Support Team Success  Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships across diverse teams, fostering trust and shared learning.
• Partner with Finance teams (Procure to Pay, Order to Cash) to ensure holistic financial visibility and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups, promoting inclusivity and diverse perspectives in financial decision-making.
• Work alongside the Master Data team to enhance accuracy, improve standards, and resolve data challenges.
• Engage with SSC process teams, supporting process innovation, shared knowledge, and long-term improvements.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience in R2R GL accounting or similar financial operations (approximately 2 years or equivalent).
• Proficiency in English for professional communication (multilingual skills are a plus).
• Strong financial data analysis skills with expertise in MS Excel or comparable tools.
• Understanding of finance business processes, accounting principles, and compliance standards.
• Familiarity with core finance systems, ERP platforms, and their functionality.
• Ability to work independently while engaging in collaborative problem-solving.
• Capacity to apply accounting concepts and best practices to evolving financial scenarios.
• Effective stakeholder interaction, ensuring high-quality service and clear communication.
• Proactive approach in fast-paced environments, with adaptability to deadlines and evolving priorities.

Beneficial to have:

• Certification or relevant experience in accounting (e.g., AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
• Experience with ERP systems, including MS Dynamics or similar platforms.
• Multilingual proficiency, enhancing global collaboration.
