Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on Item Definition, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), and Functional Safety requirements as per ISO 26262.
  • Collaborate with multiple suppliers to complete the DIA, develop safety plans, and support the creation of functional and technical safety concepts. Support in performing safety analyses such as FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA.
  • Develop and maintain artefacts required for Functional Safety audits and assessments. Define and engineer product component safety requirements aligned with system architecture.
  • Conduct system, HiL, and vehicle-level functional safety validation tests. Participate in reviews of product component safety architecture and design.
  • Manage and ensure adherence to the Functional Safety process throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support feature, system, hardware, and software teams in the completion of ISO 26262 work products as per the safety plan.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the Automotive domain with hands-on knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety Standard.
  • Strong background in Automotive Systems Engineering and Development.
  • Experience in creating safety concepts and performing safety analyses.
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 or IEC 61508, Automotive SPICE (preferably with formal certification).
  • Experience as a Functional Safety (FuSa) Engineer or FuSa Developer.
  • Exposure to Electric Power Steering (EPS) or Steer-by-Wire systems (preferred). Proficiency with tools such as DOORS, DNG, Medini, and Vector CAN tools (e.g., CANoe). Knowledge of CAN, FlexRay, and Ethernet communication protocols.
  • Requirements elicitation and management expertise. Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Basic knowledge of German language preferred.
  • Vehicle driving skills mandatory.

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, or Computer Science Engineering. Recommended: Level 1 Functional Safety (FuSa) certification.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have):

Experience in Electric Steering or related vehicle dynamics control systems. Exposure to global automotive projects or collaboration with international suppliers. Familiarity with Daimler systems, tools, and development processes. Experience in Functional Safety audits and assessments.
