Role Description

Freelance GCP Monitoring & Grafana Engineer

cloud monitoring, alerting, and performance visibility

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop

  Grafana dashboards

  for GCP infrastructure and application monitoring
• Configure

  Grafana panels

  , variables, thresholds, and annotations for operational insights
• Create and manage

  alerts in Grafana

  with appropriate severity, notification channels, and escalation logic
• Monitor and troubleshoot alerts to reduce noise and false positives
• Write and optimize

  PromQL queries

  for time-series metrics and performance analysis
• Integrate

  GCP Cloud Monitoring (Metrics Explorer)

  with Grafana
• Track key metrics such as CPU, memory, latency, error rates, throughput, and availability
• Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and engineering teams to define SLIs/SLOs and monitoring standards
• Document dashboards, alerting logic, and monitoring runbooks

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with

  Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Proven expertise in

  Grafana

  :
• Dashboard creation
• Panel configuration
• Alert creation and alert monitoring
• Strong knowledge of

  PromQL

  for metric querying
• Experience using

  GCP Metrics Explorer / Cloud Monitoring

• Understanding of cloud-native monitoring concepts (SLIs, SLOs, alert fatigue)
• Experience monitoring Kubernetes, VMs, or cloud-managed services on GCP (preferred)
