Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    Responsible to oversee Installation, Operation, maintenance and repair activities of all Electrical equipment and machinery to be used in mining operations. Responsible for leading a team of workers and technicians for planning and scheduling maintenance tasks, inspecting equipment, training subordinates. Also responsible for all statutory compliances at workplace and in maintaining the records as per statute & DGMS guidelines.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    - All the duties and responsibility of Electrical Foreman as mentioned in Regulations and orders made thereof - All the duties and responsibility of Mechanical Foreman as mentioned in Regulations and orders made thereof - Overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical Equipment in underground mine like Continuous Miner, Road header, Belt conveyors, Load centers, HT and LT Starters, Circuit Breakers and Drill panels, Pumps etc. - Preventive and predictive maintenance of Circuit breakers, transformers, Multi driver power centers. - Installation, Maintenance, and repair of safety provisions like pre-start alarm, emergency stops, lockouts and methane sensors. - Ensuring that all the electrical installations, equipment, practices in the underground mine comply with relevant Indian Electrical Standards (IES) and codes specify by the CEA. - thorough examination of all apparatus, including the testing of earth conductors and metallic coverings. - installing and maintaining control panels, relays, and alarm and detection devices for high and low voltage equipment. - The Supervisor in-charge of the work shall obtain proper permit-to-work from the concerned Operation In-charge(s) and ensure that the electric supply line or apparatus or section is isolated from all sources of energy, de-energised and earthed. - examination and testing of all new apparatus, and of all apparatus, re-erected in the mine before it is put into service in a new position. - should be profound in operational procedures & knowledge in preventive & breakdown maintenance of HT/LT equipment’s with quality & safety. - Ensuring that all electrical work complies with safety regulations as per CEA guidelines and standards to prevent accidents, fires, and electrocutions. - Manage manpower, equipment, tooling, and material needs. - Leading a team of electricians and technicians, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring that work is performed efficiently and safely. - Being prepared to respond to electrical emergencies such as power outages, equipment failures, or accidents, and implementing appropriate measures to address them quickly and effectively. - Conducting regular inspections and tests of electrical equipment and systems to identify potential issues early and prevent downtime or safety hazards. - Providing training to electricians on safety procedures, equipment operation, and best practices to enhance their skills and knowledge. - Coordinating with other mine departments and personnel to ensure that electrical work aligns with overall mining operations and schedules. - Maintaining accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and safety incidents, and preparing reports as required. - Take reasonable means to ensure proper observance of the Act and of the regulations, and orders made thereunder by persons under his charge and shall, as soon as practicable, report any contravention thereof to his superior official. - Ensure all machinery and operators are working in a safe & secure manner. - Maintain Operations, Safety, Equipment, and manpower records in the shift as per statute & DGMS guidelines. - Shall identify risks and ensure that risk Management is done timely to avoid accidents.

Qualifications and Experience


    Qualifications: Essential: Diploma in Electrical Engineering with valid Electrical Supervisor's Certificate of Competency for Underground Mining. Experience: 5 – 8 years (at least4 year experience in UG coal mining)
