RMP Fitter

Department: Mechanical / Raw Material Preparation (RMP)

Reporting To: Mechanical Supervisor / RMP In-charge

Job Purpose

To carry out installation, maintenance, alignment, and repair of mechanical equipment used in the Raw Material Preparation (RMP) section to ensure uninterrupted material handling and plant operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Maintenance

• Maintain and repair crushers, screens, conveyors, vibro feeders, bucket elevators, hoppers, chutes, and associated equipment.
• Carry out belt changing, belt jointing, pulley lagging, and roller replacement.
• Perform bearing replacement, shaft alignment, coupling fitting, and gearbox maintenance.
• Attend to breakdown maintenance and ensure quick restoration of RMP operations.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Execute preventive maintenance schedules for RMP equipment.
• Inspect equipment for wear and tear; take corrective action before failures occur.
• Maintain proper lubrication of all mechanical parts.

Fabrication & Fitting Work

• Perform cutting, gas welding, arc welding, grinding, and fitting works as required.
• Fabricate and modify chutes, guards, brackets, and supports.

Safety & Housekeeping

• Follow all safety rules, SOPs, and permit systems.
• Use PPE properly during maintenance activities.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the RMP area.

Documentation & Coordination

• Maintain maintenance records and breakdown logs.
• Coordinate with operations, electricians, and supervisors during shutdowns.
• Assist during annual shutdowns and major overhauls.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of material handling systems
• Good understanding of mechanical drawings
• Experience in belt conveyor systems
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices

Qualification & Experience

• ITI Fitter / Mechanical Trade (Mandatory)
• 2–6 years experience in Sponge Iron / Steel / Power Plant
• Experience specifically in RMP section preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹17,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
