Finance Lead

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function for underwriting portfolios across multiple lines of business.
• Review and analyze underwriting P&L components including Premiums, Claims, Commissions, Expenses, and Reinsurance (ceded and assumed).
• Conduct detailed variance analysis comparing actual results against budgets and forecasts; provide actionable insights to senior management.
• Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and presentations highlighting performance trends and key business drivers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including underwriting, claims, actuarial, and regional finance teams to support strategic initiatives.
• Drive process improvements and automation within the controllership function to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
• 12-18 years of progressive experience in finance roles within the insurance industry, with at least 35 years in a leadership capacity.
• Strong understanding of issuing office vs. producing office concepts.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, INDEX-MATCH, IFERROR, Pivot Tables) and financial modelling.
• Familiarity with key insurance metrics: Combined Ratio, Loss Ratio, Expense Ratio, Net Written Premiums.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across geographies.
• Experience with financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., Workday, Salesforce, Anaplan, Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
