Financial Controller

Position Overview

As Finance Controller, you will be a strategic partner to the Finance Director and a key member of the senior management team in India. You will lead the end-to-end financial operations of the business including planning, reporting, compliance, treasury, and cost control. The ideal candidate should have a strong manufacturing finance background, excellent leadership skills, and be capable of driving financial excellence aligned with global standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Planning & Strategy

• Assist in developing and executing financial strategies to meet business and global goals.
• Support the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
• Work closely with the Finance Director on business profitability and cost optimization initiatives.

2. Controllership & Reporting

• Lead accounting, controlling, and MIS functions ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Ensure financial statements are compliant with IFRS and Indian Accounting Standards.
• Own monthly/quarterly closing processes and reporting to HQ in Germany.

3. Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to Indian corporate laws, GST, income tax, and other financial regulations.
• Coordinate with auditors and tax advisors for annual audits, tax assessments, and other compliances.
• Implement strong internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and asset protection.

4. Treasury & Working Capital Management

• Monitor daily cash flow, banking operations, and working capital efficiency.
• Handle forex exposure and credit facility management with financial institutions.

5. Cost Control & ERP Optimization

• Identify and implement cost-saving measures in coordination with production and operations teams.
• Oversee financial aspects of ERP systems (preferably SAP) for real-time insights and accuracy.

6. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with HQ in Germany on strategic and financial alignment.
• Provide financial analysis and support for sales, procurement, and manufacturing decisions.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or Cost Accountant (CMA) mandatory.
• MBA in Finance preferred.
  

Experience:

• Minimum 20+ years in finance, with at least 10 years in senior leadership.
• Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial lubricants/chemicals sector preferred.
• Exposure to multinational companies and cross-cultural teams desirable.
  

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in IFRS, Indian GAAP, GST, income tax, transfer pricing, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Proficient in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and MS Office Suite.
  

Soft Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management.
• Strategic thinking with hands-on execution ability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
