Exterior Design Engineer

As an Exterior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for generating CATIA V5 Body Engineering CAD concepts and solutions for Door Trims projects. Your key responsibilities will include: - Designing Exteriors, Underbody components, and Ornamentation commodities such as Aero trays, Wheel arch liners, Heatshields, and more. - Utilizing CATIA V5 & V6 for Generative Shape design, Part Design, Assembly, and Drawing workbench. - Creating parametric 3D proposals in Catia, defining materials, and generating assembly drawings. - Conducting packaging studies, environment checks, and kinematics simulations to ensure regulatory and functional requirements are met. - Demonstrating a good understanding of DFM and DFA principles. - Ensuring system, sub-system, and components meet required interfaces, quality targets, and regulatory compliance. - Establishing and maintaining a teamwork plan aligned with vehicle program goals. - Providing CAD support and leading design progress in line with program timescales. - Communicating effectively with all stakeholders including Design team, studio, legal, and packaging. Qualifications required for this role include: - Extensive experience in using CATIA V5. - Strong design skills with past experience in Exterior Trims/Ornamentation/Black Trim commodities. - Successful track record of delivery in the automotive sector. - Familiarity with Team Centre Engineering (TCE). - Engineering knowledge of component/system design, function, performance, and manufacturing requirements. - Excellent communication skills at all levels. - Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, and Word.
