Job Description

Job location: Ambernath Chemical Plant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the development and implementation of an QEHS management system.
  • Ensure that employees follow safety rules laid down for work and report act of indiscipline / insubordination to the higher ups.
  • Co-coordinating all aspects of resource use, pollution reduction, waste management, environmental health, risk assessment and employee involvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Raising awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical, and social responsibility.
  • Raising awareness, at all levels of an organization, for the appropriate use of PPE.
  • To provide a formal, systematic training on EHS and job-specific aspects the workplace.
  • Follow up with HR Department for half yearly Employees Health Check-up with our FMO.
  • Training to new employees regarding safety rules & regulation at our premises.
  • Will have to look after the operation when Production Manager is not Present.
  • Responsible for IMS, Legal Documentation and Audit.
  • Responsible for conducting Mock Drill, Safety Induction Training, and all other safety related work.
  • Issuing of work permit system and taking safety toolbox talk regularly.

Core Activities in a Chemical Plant

Chemical Handling: Managing hazardous materials, ensuring safe storage, use, and disposal.

Process Safety: Focusing on preventing major accidents related to chemical processes.

Emergency Response: Organizing mock drills for fires, spills, or other emergencies.

Should ensure compliance with safety regulations, manages risks, conducts training, and monitors operations to prevent accidents and pollution, focusing on plant rounds, incident investigation (RCAs), safety awareness, documentation (ISO 14001/45001), and emergency preparedness, making them crucial for a zero-harm workplace.

Required Skills/Background

Minimum 3 years experience in EHS

Degree in Chemical Engineering / Environmental Science

Familiarity with DISH, MPCB and EHS systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001).

Strong understanding of hazardous chemical safety standards
