Description
You will be responsible for the Product Planning - Aggregates at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India. Your key responsibilities will include: - Conducting evaluation of product, process, and assembly hierarchy to optimize hours per vehicle and cycle time. - Providing early-stage inputs to the Design team on Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM). - Performing detailed product studies and defining assembly processes considering quality, safety, delivery, and ergonomics. - Associating part, tool, and quality attributes with process definitions. - Conducting preliminary line balancing, TAKT time, and cycle time planning. - Designing small jigs and fixtures to support assembly operations. - Performing time studies using MTM or MOST standards (MTM certification desirable). - Suggesting process enhancements or improvements by benchmarking with earlier product lines. - Managing projects with end-to-end responsibility for delivery, quality, timelines, and innovation. Required Skills and Experience: - Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering and assembly processes in the automotive domain. - Experience in assembly line planning, line balancing, TAKT/cycle time calculations, and process optimization. - Proficiency in DFA/DFM principles and time study methodologies (MTM/MOST). - Hands-on experience in designing jigs and fixtures. - Good knowledge of tools, part attributes, and quality considerations in assembly process planning. - 28 years of experience in automotive manufacturing/production engineering. - Strong analytical skills, communication abilities, and cross-functional collaboration. Educational Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering. - Additional certifications (good to have): MTM certification, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc. Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have): - Exposure to automotive OEM/Tier-1 assembly environments. - Experience with international projects and cross-cultural collaboration. - Familiarity with Daimler processes, tools, or global stakeholder interactions. - Knowledge of digital manufacturing tools (e.g., process simulation, layout planning software).
