Job Description

Role Overview: As a BIW Paint Engineer, your main purpose will be to work on the programme after successfully passing the KO gateway. You will be responsible for progressing the virtual phase and forming Agile product squads within the paint technology. Your role will involve conducting virtual process assessments and addressing design-for-manufacture requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Access and review vehicle geometry using virtual tools in 3D Experience to ensure compatibility with paint processes and facilities. - Develop process solutions to meet operational targets. - Create cost-effective solutions for all engineering changes while adhering to CAPEX & OPEX targets. - Conduct desktop studies, both ad-hoc and in line with DPA5 schedule. - Evaluate BIW geometry and paint content against Global Paint Manufacturing Standards. - Assess advanced design themes/models for compliance and compatibility with Paint Shop processes. - Collaborate with Paint VME to define and review process simulations. - Address paint process feasibility issues within product squads and track engineering changes to the BIW that may impact paint. - Support the paint tooling design department by introducing required BIW features into the product and defining tooling functional requirements. - Identify process incompatibilities resulting from product content & design. - Develop an initial draft of the process deck using appropriate process authoring tools (GSPAS or Delmia). - Assist the paint programme lead engineer in progressing through the virtual phase of the programme. - Produce and review Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) documents to mitigate risks. Qualifications Required: - Understanding of Paint Manufacturing/Engineering processes, tools & techniques. - Ability to create detailed and effective action plans. - Proficiency in MS Office tools. - Experience in Automotive Paint Shop. - Knowledge or experience of wax, paint, and sealer applications and programming. - Degree or technical qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field. - Experience in automotive model design & development. - Innovative approach to technical problem solving and process development. - Ability to work with financial information to inform decisions. - Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex technical solutions. - Knowledge of Agile, JIRA, or Scrum methodology. - Project management experience. - Process authoring experience. - Familiarity with Dassault software (CATIA, DELMIA, 3DX Platform).,
