Job Title: Chemist Electroplating Plant Department: Electroplating Operations Location: Jalgaon Experience Required: 1-5 years in chemical analysis and process control in electroplating or relavant industry Education: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry; Diploma in Electrochemical Technology preferred About the Company Spectrum Electrical Industries Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of electrical enclosures and components. Our electroplating division supports surface finishing for a wide range of parts across multiple customer requirements, focusing on quality, durability, and corrosion resistance. Position Objective To ensure efficient and controlled chemical processes in the electroplating plant by monitoring bath compositions, performing regular testing, maintaining plating standards, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental norms. Key Responsibilities Bath Monitoring & Analysis Conduct daily analysis of plating baths (zinc, nickel, copper, chromium, etc.) to maintain correct chemical composition. Maintain plating parameters like pH, temperature, current density, and concentration of metals and additives. Adjust baths as per process control charts and chemical consumption data. Process Control & Documentation Maintain detailed lab records , test logs, and corrective action reports. Ensure that chemical additions , drag-out losses, and sludge formation are monitored and managed. Assist in maintaining SOPs for electroplating and surface finishing processes . Troubleshooting & Quality Support Support production and quality teams in root cause analysis for plating defects (e.g., pitting, peeling, uneven coating). Recommend chemical or process adjustments to reduce rejection rates. Participate in trial runs of new chemicals or processes and evaluate their effectiveness. Safety, Waste Management & Compliance Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of chemicals as per MSDS and company safety policy. Supervise or assist in treatment of effluents and disposal of plating sludge in coordination with ETP. Ensure compliance with pollution control board (PCB) norms and internal audit protocols. Inventory & Chemical Management Monitor stock levels of chemicals , reagents, and testing equipment. Coordinate with the purchase/store team for timely replenishment of lab and plating chemicals. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of electroplating chemistry , bath formulations, and troubleshooting Hands-on experience with titration , pH meters , specific gravity , and other testing techniques Understanding of electrochemical reactions , current efficiency , and coating thickness Basic understanding of ISO 9001 / 14001 / IATF 16949 standards (preferred) Good communication and documentation skills Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) % of plating baths within control limits Plating rejection rate due to chemical parameters Frequency and accuracy of bath monitoring Chemical consumption vs. standard norms Lab reporting and documentation accuracy Compliance during EHS/PCB audits Preferred Background Work experience in zinc plating (acid/alkaline), nickel-chrome plating , or trivalent passivation Familiarity with environmental norms and ETP functioning in electroplating units
