Electrician _ SMS (Steel Melting Shop)

A. Operation & Maintenance

• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of SMS electrical equipment.
• Ensure continuous functioning of:
• EAF / Induction Furnace
• LRF (Ladle Refining Furnace)
• CCM (Continuous Casting Machine)
• Cranes & hoists
• Transformers, LT/HT panels, MCC, VFD panels
• EMS, Hydraulics & auxiliary equipment
• Monitor electrical parameters and report abnormalities.
• Support smooth startup and shutdown of SMS machinery.

B. Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults in motors, panels, control circuits, sensors, limit switches, PLC & VFD systems.
• Repair or replace defective components (contactors, relays, fuses, cables, switches, connectors).
• Respond immediately to electrical breakdowns and minimize downtime.

C. Safety & Compliance

• Strictly follow all safety SOPs, LockoutTagout (LOTO), PPE requirements.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and statutory norms.
• Report unsafe conditions and participate in safety audits.

D. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain daily logbook of maintenance and breakdown activities.
• Record spare parts usage and raise requisition when needed.
• Assist in preparing maintenance reports and machine performance records.

E. Coordination

• Work closely with SMS operations, mechanical, and production teams.
• Support AMC vendors, external technicians, and electrical contractors.
• Cooperate with supervisors for planning shutdown and preventive maintenance schedules.

2. Skills & Competencies Required

• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (LT/HT).
• Hands-on experience with furnaces, cranes, CCM equipment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings & schematics.
• Knowledge of PLC basics, VFDs, sensors, and control circuits.
• Quick fault diagnosis capability.
• Safety-oriented mindset.
• Team coordination and communication skills.

3. Qualification & Experience

• ITI / Diploma in Electrical

  or higher.
• Minimum

  25 years

  ’ experience in steel plant SMS electrical maintenance.
• Experience with

  EAF/LRF/Induction Furnace/CCM

  preferred.

4. Work Conditions

• Rotational shift working.
• Need to respond to emergencies or breakdowns at any time.

Roll: Third Party pay roll managed by company itself.
