Job Description: Electrical Engineer – Maintenance Site

Location: NMDC Steel Plant, Nagarnar, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh

Designation: Electrical Engineer (Maintenance)

Qualification: Diploma in Electrical Engineering (EE/EEE)

Experience: Minimum 4 years in electrical maintenance

Salary Range: ₹18,000 – ₹25,000 per month

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Equipment Maintenance (Routine & Preventive)

Perform preventive, breakdown, and corrective maintenance of plant electrical equipment.

Maintain and troubleshoot:

LT/HT motors

Transformers

Switchgear (ACB, VCB, MCCB)

MCC/PCC panels

VFDs and soft starters

Lighting systems and power distribution boards

2. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

Identify and repair electrical faults in machinery and systems.

Use testing tools (multimeter, megger, clamp meter) for fault diagnosis.

Minimize equipment downtime through quick and safe troubleshooting.

3. Operation Support

Support continuous plant operations in units such as:

Raw Material Handling

Blast Furnace

Steel Melting Shop

Rolling Mill

Utility Plant (compressors, pumps, DG sets)

Assist in switching operations and load management.

4. Safety & Compliance

Follow LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) and all electrical safety procedures.

Ensure compliance with plant safety standards, PPE usage, and maintenance protocols.

Conduct safety inspections of electrical equipment and cables.

5. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare daily maintenance logs, breakdown analysis, and job completion reports.

Maintain history cards for motors, panels, and transformers.

Ensure proper documentation of spare parts and material usage.

6. Coordination

Coordinate with production, mechanical, and instrumentation teams for maintenance activities.

Support contractors or vendors during major maintenance or equipment overhaul.
