Electrical Designer

An Electrical Designer is responsible for developing, drafting, and reviewing electrical systems and layouts for various types of projectsranging from commercial, industrial, infrastructure, to oil & gas and fit-out applications. They collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to deliver functional, code-compliant, and efficient electrical designs.

Key Responsibilities / Roles:

Electrical System Design

Design LV and MV electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and earthing.

Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and cable routing layouts.

Calculate electrical loads, short circuit analysis, and voltage drop.

Preparation of Drawings and Documentation

Create electrical drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD tools.

Prepare BOQs, specifications, and data sheets for electrical components.

Maintain proper documentation of design changes and updates.

Compliance and Standards

Ensure designs comply with national/international codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, IS, IEEE).

Coordinate with safety and fire teams to integrate emergency systems.

Coordination and Review

Work with architects, mechanical designers, and civil engineers to integrate electrical systems.

Review vendor/subcontractor drawings and suggest design improvements.

Project Support and Site Coordination

Support project execution team with technical clarifications.

Perform site visits for layout verification, inspections, or commissioning support (if required).

Software and Tools Use

Utilize design software like AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux/Relux (for lighting), ETAP or Ecodial (for load calculations).

Work with MS Office, Excel for documentation and reporting.
