EHS Engineer/ HSE Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities :

1. EHS Compliance & Legal Requirements

Ensure compliance with local, state, and national EHS regulations (Factories Act, OSHA, Pollution Control Norms, etc.)
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments Maintain and update statutory records, licenses, and approvals related to environmental and safety compliance Liaise with regulatory authorities, external auditors, and consultants

2. Workplace Safety & Risk Management

Identify workplace hazards and develop risk mitigation strategies
Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA) Implement Permit to Work (PTW) systems for high-risk jobs (hot work, working at heights, confined spaces, etc.) Monitor and ensure safe operation of material handling equipment (cranes, forklifts, etc.) Conduct fire safety drills & emergency response planning

3. Contractor Safety Management

Ensure all contract workers (300+) follow site safety protocols
Conduct safety induction and toolbox talks for contract employees Implement work permits, PPE compliance, and site access control for contractors Audit contract agencies for compliance with EHS policies and labor laws

4. Environment & Sustainability

Ensure compliance with environmental norms (air, water, waste management)
Monitor and improve energy conservation and pollution control measures Implement hazardous waste handling & disposal procedures Conduct environmental impact assessments for site projects

5. Training & Safety Culture Development

Develop & conduct safety training programs for employees & contract workers
Organize mock drills, first aid training, and behavioral safety sessions Promote a "Zero Accident" culture through awareness campaigns Maintain and update Safety SOPs, manuals, and training modules

Key Skills Required:

Strong knowledge of industrial safety laws, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness
Experience in EHS audits, accident investigations, and root cause analysis Ability to handle large contract workforce & implement contractor safety programs Familiarity with material handling safety (cranes, forklifts, hoists, etc.) Proficiency in EHS documentation, compliance reporting, and statutory record-keeping Strong interpersonal skills to train, influence, and enforce safety culture Hands-on experience with fire safety systems, PPE compliance, and waste management

Preferred Certifications (Added Advantage):

NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA certification
First Aid & Fire Safety certification Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) training Lead Auditor Certification (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001)
