Draftsman

A Structural Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings and plans for structural components of buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. This role involves close collaboration with engineers and architects to ensure designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements143. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed drawings and blueprints of structural components and systems using CAD and other drafting software. Collaborate with engineers and architects to refine and finalize design concepts. Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and company policies. Draft plans, sections, and elevations for structural concrete, steel, and other materials used in construction projects. Review sketches, specifications, and engineering data to ensure accuracy and conformity to design concepts. Revise drawings to reflect as-built conditions and incorporate feedback from project teams. Assist with project documentation, including material lists, specifications, and construction manuals. Participate in project meetings and coordinate with other departments to ensure drawings are properly referenced and integrated. Conduct site visits to gather information and ensure design compliance during construction. Maintain and organize drawing files and ensure proper document control Required Skills and Qualifications Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software such as Revit. Basic understanding of structural engineering principles and building. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work under deadlines. Good communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders. Strong mathematical and analytical skills for calculating structural dimensions and material requirements. Typical Experience Previous experience as a draftsman or drafter in the engineering or construction industry. Familiarity with document management systems and drawing management tools is advantageous. Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
