Electrical Draftsman Solar Projects

Position Overview

As an Electrical Draftsman specialized in solar projects, you’ll create accurate technical drawings and schematic layouts for solar PV systems—collaborating closely with electrical engineers and design teams to ensure compliance with engineering standards and electrical regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical drawings and schematics for solar PV installation designs (e.g., module layouts, inverter pads, cable trenching, earthing and wiring diagrams) Expertia+1Saur Energy+1.
  
• Collaborate with design engineers to refine electrical layouts, array grouping, and single-line diagrams for solar infrastructure Saur EnergyExpertia.
  
• Create General Arrangement (GA) and wiring layouts showing placement of equipment (inverters, control rooms, cable trays, MCC panels, etc.) Saur Energy.
  
• Revise drawings based on engineer and client feedback, maintain version control, and manage documentation updates Indeed+3Expertia+3Expertia+3.
  
• Conduct site visits or review field surveys to validate design feasibility (e.g., topography, cable routing profiles, foundation needs) Expertia+2Saur Energy+2Expertia+2.
  
• Support electrical scope planning, BOM generation, and cost estimation from finalized drawings.
  
• Ensure all deliverables meet local electrical safety standards, national codes, and solar-specific design norms.
  

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related technical field Expertia+1Expertia+1.
  
• 3–5+ years drafting experience in solar power projects, especially in electrical design contexts (including trench/cable and earthing layouts) Expertia+3Saur Energy+3Expertia+3.
  
• Proficiency in CAD software:

  AutoCAD Electrical

• Strong interpretation of Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), earthing plans, cable schedules, conduit layouts, and schematic drawings.
  
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy in dimensions, labeling, and drafting clarity.
  
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams or stakeholders.
  
• Knowledge of local electrical code compliance, safety regulations, and renewable energy norms.
  

Desired Skills

• Experience with PVcase, Civil 3D, Revit, SketchUp or similar solar design software Saur Energy.
  
• Understanding of earthwork quantities, site grading, contour mapping relevant to cable trenching and mount foundations.
  
• Familiarity with preparing GA layouts, MCC pad framing, inverter foundations, control room layouts, earthing mesh installations.
  
• Able to translate field survey data and GPS/topography input into draft documentation.
  

Experience & Behavioral Traits

• Prior involvement in solar engineering or EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) contracts.
  
• Ability to manage multiple drawings, deliver revisions on tight timelines.
  
• Strong organizational skills, version tracking, and documentation management.
