Job Description: Dean of Student Welfare Department – Chandigarh University, Mohali

The Dean of Student Welfare at Chandigarh University plays a crucial leadership role designed to enhance the overall student experience—academically, socially, and personally. Below are the core responsibilities and functions based on publicly available information:

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership

Provide vision and strategic direction for student welfare programs across the university, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and enhancing students’ holistic development.

  • Student Support Services Management

Oversee the development and implementation of student support services, including counselling, health and wellness initiatives, and resolving student grievances.

  • Liaison Role

Act as the main liaison between students and university administration, ensuring effective communication and advocacy for student needs and concerns.

  • Program Development

Coordinate and organize co-curricular activities, intra- and inter-university competitions, cultural and literary events, sports meets, workshops, webinars, and conferences.

  • Clubs & Committees Oversight

Supervise university-level clubs and committees such as NSS, NCC, Sexual Harassment Cell, Anti-ragging Cell, and Grievance Redressal Cell. Empower students to actively participate and promote awareness about these initiatives.

  • Hostel & International Student Welfare

Ensure hostels provide modern facilities and support for students, including international students. Maintain high standards of accommodation and amenities.

  • Code of Conduct Enforcement

Uphold university policies regarding student conduct, anti-ragging initiatives, and community harmony, working closely with administration for disciplinary matters.

  • Career & Skill Enhancement

Organize seminars, interactive sessions, and workshops focusing on interpersonal, communication, technical, leadership, and life skills; support career enhancement and interview preparation for students.

  • Grievance Redressal & Counselling

Address grievances and counselling needs of students through a “single window” approach for efficient resolution and guidance.
