Director, R&D

You will be responsible for managing team leads for multiple lean, high-performing teams consisting of software architects, software engineers, and QA automation engineers. Working closely with a product management counterpart, you will deliver roadmap priorities for one or more products. Collaboration with product management, team leads, and software architects will be necessary to develop achievable solutions for large product initiatives. Ensuring adherence to Momentive product development processes and best practices will be a key aspect of your role. Your ability to use metrics to drive velocity, predictability, and quality delivery will be crucial. You will need to identify and advocate for prioritization of technical debt and non-functional roadmap items. Promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing within teams to reduce key person dependencies will also be part of your responsibilities. Identifying and communicating delivery risks to product management, managing resource allocation to match product priorities, and providing coaching and mentorship for technical team members are vital aspects of this role. To qualify for this position, you should have at least 10 years of professional software development experience and 5 years of experience managing software development teams. A strong understanding of product development processes and tools, as well as experience working in a product-led, metrics-driven organization, is required. Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to build collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders are essential. Excellent project management skills, organizational abilities, and a proven track record of meeting deadlines are also necessary. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning. You should have the ability to assess risk and make informed, strategic decisions. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, trust-building capabilities, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are important attributes.
