Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Documentation Pipeline Engineer to design, develop, and maintain a modern Docs-as-Code pipeline for technical and architecture documentation. You will work with Sphinx/SphinxNeeds and integrate documentation workflows with our tooling landscape, including codebeamer, Jira, and CI/CD systems. The ideal candidate has strong Python and Sphinx expertise, experience with automation, and a passion for high-quality, traceable documentation in complex engineering environments.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a Sphinx/Sphinx Needs-based documentation pipeline.
Integrate Docs-as-Code workflows with tools such as code beamer, Jira, and other platforms using APIs and automation.
Migrate existing architecture and project documentation into the Docs-as-Code model.
Embed and automate the documentation pipeline within CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
Implement quality gates for documentation (linting, link checking, doctests, review workflows).
Ensure traceability and version control for architecture documentation across systems.
Support publishing and deployment of documentation in multiple formats (HTML, PDF, internal portals).
Collaborate with development, architecture, and DevOps teams to ensure documentation quality and integration.

Required Skills:

5-8 years of experience in Python development, tooling, and automation.
Strong experience with Sphinx and SphinxNeeds extensions.
Proficiency in Git (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
Solid understanding of Docs-as-Code principles and pipelines.
Experience in Agile software development (Scrum, Kanban).
Proficiency with Markdown (md) and/or reStructuredText (rst).
Experience integrating documentation workflows with external tools via APIs.

Nice-to-have:

Familiarity with architecture modelling standards (arc42, C4 model).
Experience with automation/DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible).
Knowledge of publishing workflows (static site generators, PDF export pipelines).
Background in the automotive domain.
