Job Description

We are seeking a skilled

DataDog Application Observability Engineer

to design, implement, and operationalize observability and monitoring across

client Mobile Applications (iOS & Android)

hosted on

Azure Cloud

. The role requires expertise in

DataDog instrumentation, dashboards, and alerts

, as well as integration with other monitoring tools to provide end-to-end visibility into application performance, reliability, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Implement Observability Framework:
Design and establish an observability architecture for Mobile Applications using
DataDog
, covering metrics, traces, logs, RUM, and synthetic monitoring.
Integration & Data Flow:
Integrate DataDog with existing tools such as
Azure Monitoring, Nagios, SonarQube, and Reveille
.
Application Monitoring Enablement:
Set up
Application Performance Monitoring (APM)
and user observability for business and IT stakeholders, capturing end-to-end transaction flows.
Automation & Dashboards:
Develop custom dashboards, alerts, and automated monitoring scripts for proactive performance tracking and SLA adherence.
Collaboration with Dev & QA Teams:
Partner with development and testing teams to embed observability
in CI/CD pipelines
and ensure
code-level instrumentation
.
Incident Analysis & Optimization:
Use observability data to identify
performance bottlenecks, reliability issues
, and optimization opportunities.
Governance & Standards:
Define observability standards,
metrics taxonomy
, and best practices for continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience with
DataDog
: configuration, agents, synthetic monitoring, log management, dashboards, and alerts.
Solid understanding of
Azure Cloud
services: App Services, Functions, API Gateways.
Exposure to
REST APIs
and backend service dependencies.
Proficiency in
scripting languages
: Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and agent configuration.
Familiarity with
CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps)
for embedding observability into deployments.
Excellent
analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
with stakeholder management capabilities.

Preferred Skills / Good to Have

Experience with
mobile application monitoring
(iOS/Android).
Knowledge of
end-to-end observability frameworks
across cloud and on-premises services.
Understanding of
SLA/KPI-based monitoring and reporting
.
