Design Engineer

Job Summary:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, calculation, preparation of drawings, and technical documentation for fire fighting systems (hydrant, sprinkler, pump room, and gas suppression systems). The role requires sound technical knowledge of NFPA, NBC, IS standards, and coordination with clients, consultants, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed design drawings, schematics, and layout plans for fire fighting systems (hydrant, sprinkler, and suppression systems).
  
• Perform hydraulic calculations and pump sizing using software or manual methods.
  
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and technical specifications based on project requirements.
  
• Review tender drawings, prepare design proposals, and support estimation teams.
  
• Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, and project managers for design approval and technical clarifications.
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA, NBC, IS, TAC, etc.).
  
• Support site teams during project execution with design clarifications or revisions.
  
• Prepare As-built drawings and documentation after project completion.
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in

  AutoCAD

  (2D drafting & layout design).
• Knowledge of

  Hydraulic Calculation Software

  (e.g., Elite Fire, Canute FHC, or similar).
• Strong understanding of

  Fire Fighting Codes & Standards

  (NFPA, IS, NBC).
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
  
• Experience in

  pump selection

  ,

  pipe sizing

  , and

  system design

  .
• Good communication and coordination skills with clients and internal teams.
  
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
  

Qualification & Experience:

• Qualification:

  Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical , Civil Engineering or Fire Engineering.

• Experience:

  2–6 years in designing Fire Fighting / Fire Protection Systems.

Preferred Experience:

• Design of

  hydrant systems, sprinkler systems, pump rooms, and gas-based fire suppression systems

  .
• Exposure to

  commercial, industrial, and residential

  fire safety projects.
• Familiarity with

  BIM/Revit

  (added advantage).
