Job Summary

Assistant Manager Substation Design & Engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Lead

  design & engineering

  of AIS/GIS substations (up to 220kV) for solar, wind, hybrid, and utility projects.
• Manage and mentor a team of electrical & civil engineers to deliver integrated engineering packages.
• Approve

  SLDs, layouts, GAs, equipment specs

  , and control room designs.
• Conduct/review

  power system studies

  (load flow, short circuit, earthing, lightning protection, protection coordination, CT/PT sizing).
• Guide civil/structural design of

  foundations, control rooms, cable trenches

  .
• Interface with

  OEMs & EPCs

  for HV equipment procurement and integration.
• Ensure compliance with

  CEA, STU, DISCOM, CEIG, IS, IEC, IEEE standards

  .
• Provide technical inputs during

  tenders, EPC proposals, DPRs, and feasibility studies

  .
• Oversee

  design documentation, client submissions, and statutory approvals

  .
• Coordinate with

  utilities (SLDC/STU/CEIG)

  for grid compliance & energization.
• Supervise

  SCADA, protection, and automation system integration

  .
• Support

  FAT, SAT, QA/QC

  during project execution.
• Drive

  root cause analysis, performance review, and predictive maintenance support

  .

Qualifications & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech – Electrical Engineering

  .
• 5–12 years’ experience in

  HV substation design (11kV–220kV)

  .
• Proven track record with

  utilities, IPPs, renewable developers, or large industries

  .
• Proficient in

  AutoCAD, ETAP, CYME, DigSILENT, PSCAD

  .
• Strong knowledge of

  HV equipment, SCADA, RTU, IEC 61850, Modbus protocols

  .
• Experience working with

  PGCIL, GETCO, TANGEDCO

  or similar utilities is a plus.
• Team management experience (4–15 engineers).
