Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Drawing Preparation:

• Develop and prepare

  detailed drawings

  (both 2D and 3D) for assembly, manufacturing, and prototyping activities, adhering to the required formats and standards.
• Preparation of Bill of Materials
• Ensure that all designs align with

  customer technical specifications

  , operational requirements, and industry standards.
• Modify and update existing designs as required to accommodate changes in customer requirements or manufacturing processes.
• Work with various

  design software

  (Autodesk CAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion, CREO 2.0, ANSYS etc.), as selected by the company management, to create efficient and accurate designs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
• Perform engineering duties in planning and designing work holdings.

• Analysis & feasibility

• Conduct analysis of the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems
• Analyse customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost of designs or applications
• Develop or test models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification

• Prototyping & Testing:

• Design and develop prototypes for new products, components, or assemblies.
• Coordinate the

  testing of prototypes

  , ensuring that all designs are tested for functionality, performance, and quality.
• Supervise the

  prototype testing process

  and make necessary modifications based on test results.
• Testing and re-testing the designs for the perfect and flawless outcome
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure that prototype builds align with design specifications.

• Collaboration with OEMs & Vendors:

• Work closely with

  OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers)

  and external vendors to align design and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop and review designs in collaboration with vendors to ensure that they are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet all technical specifications.
• Maintain strong relationships with OEMs and vendors to facilitate

  smooth design integration

  and resolve any issues related to design or manufacturing.

• Manufacturing Process Integration:

• Ensure that design solutions are

  integrated with the manufacturing process

  and optimized for efficient production.
• Work alongside production teams to assess manufacturing feasibility and incorporate feedback into design.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure that designs can be easily translated into finished products with minimal complexity or manufacturing challenges.
• Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted drafting equipment or software.

• Cost Optimization:

• Evaluate designs with a focus on

  cost optimization

  while maintaining quality and functionality.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to reduce production costs without compromising the quality or performance of the final product.
• Provide recommendations for material usage, manufacturing methods, and design alterations that could result in cost savings.

• Customer Requirement Understanding:

• Analyse and interpret

  customer technical requirements

  and ensure that designs meet their expectations.
• Communicate with the customer or sales teams to clarify design specifications, address concerns, and implement feedback.
• Ensure that design documentation is clear, comprehensive, and aligned with customer expectations.

• Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and detailed

  design records, drawings, BOM and documentation

  to support manufacturing and assembly activities.
• Provide regular updates on design progress and other relevant departments.
• Ensure that all design and development activities are fully documented for future reference and compliance.

• Continuous Improvement:

• Stay up to date with the latest design trends, technologies, and tools in the field of engineering design.
• Continuously improve design skills and software proficiency through training and development.

Identify areas for improvement in the design process and collaborate with the team to implement best practices.
