Deputy General Manager

Job Purpose:

To lead and oversee the mine planning activities for open-cast coal mining operations, ensuring optimal resource utilization, cost-effective production strategies, compliance with statutory regulations, and long-term mine sustainability.

Role & responsibilities:

• Mine Planning & Design:
• Develop long-term and short-term mine plans including scheduling, sequencing, and
  production forecasting.
• Optimize mine design using relevant software (e.g., Minex, Surpac, MineScape).
• Evaluate and update mine plans based on geological and geotechnical data.
• Resource Management:
• Collaborate with geology and survey teams for accurate resource estimation and block modelling.
• Monitor and manage stripping ratios, pit advancement, and coal quality control.
• Operational Coordination:
• Coordinate with operations, HEMM, and safety departments to ensure seamless plan implementation.
• Support production targets while ensuring adherence to environmental and safety standards.

Compliance & Documentation:

• Ensure all plans are aligned with MoEF, DGMS, and Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) guidelines.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports and mining plans (RQP submissions if applicable).

Cost Control & Optimization:

• Identify opportunities for cost-saving in mine design and scheduling.
• Evaluate contractor performance and support techno-commercial assessments.
• Technology & Innovation:
• Lead implementation of mine planning technologies such as drone-based survey, digital mine models, etc.
• Stay updated with emerging tools and practices in mine planning.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of open-cast coal mining methods and practices.
• Expertise in mine planning software: Minex, Surpac, MineScape, AutoCAD, etc.
• Familiarity with Indian mining laws and environmental regulations.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and project management skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management.
• Experience should be only in Coal Mining.
