Requirements Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with a proficiency in financial modelling including operational model, accounting, debt facilities, credit metrics and valuation analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and market data services (e.g. Bloomberg, FactSet, Factiva, Datastream, etc.) A strong understanding of the financial markets, including an understanding of HSBC Group and products. Experience in the processes undertaken for a bond issuance, acquisition financing, export finance, project finance and/or refinancing. High levels of motivation and strong work ethic underpinned by an interest and passion for the sector. Strong organisational and project management skills with ability to multitask, schedule time effectively and digest and convey complex information in an understandable and succinct story. 3-4 years’ experience in debt advisory, structured finance, project finance, ratings advisory and/or other lending products, coupled with a strong understanding of the financial markets and experience. An ability to model a broad range of debt products including term loans, RCF, bonds, inflation linked debt and derivatives. Have an understanding of core credit analysis including financial covenants, rating agency methodologies and credit metrics. Understand and ability to model valuation metrics including IRR, FCFE, DCF and Comparables. Ability to review, understand and summarise due diligence (Commercial, Environmental, Insurance etc.) as well as the underlying legal documentation required for Loan facilities. Understand security principles and able to negotiate and develop appropriate financial structures across sectors. Position Overview The Valuations Associate is part of the global team responsible for portfolio valuation, as well as valuation-related exercises for Apollo’s public company reporting. The Associate would be responsible for portfolio of securities in India as well as globally. This is a newly created position based on growth of the business and will have the opportunity to develop and shape new processes, with a risk management, analytics, and operational focus. The position is expected to interface directly and closely with various functions at Apollo including investment teams, finance, operations, and compliance/legal. Primary Responsibilities Facilitate the valuation process and coordinate valuation governance activities in the Credit segment – our largest segment, spanning product types and strategies, encompassing the majority of the $696B AUM Review and assess trading and capital market activity for private credit across Apollo funds, investment vehicles, and strategies, including assessment versus existing valuations. Valuation risk management and analytics of private credit portfolio General valuation process governance, oversight, execution, and socialization with internal and external stakeholders, including investors. Collaborate with investment teams to understand new investments and deal origination assumptions. Create summary materials that will be presented to valuation committees for review and approval of significant changes/events, valuation and market trends, and key judgments. Ownership of valuation policies, procedures, and best practices Prepare documentation in support of compliance with SOX and external audit requirements. Ad hoc special projects and new initiatives Coordinate with third party valuation firms and deal teams to create accurate, timely valuations Validate and update valuation models as well as inputs, and assess applicable methodologies Create summary materials highlighting significant changes/events and industry analyses, to be presented to the valuations committees for their review and approval of all valuations Qualifications & Experience Experience in building valuation models (DCF, Market approach and Option Models) Demonstrated history of and interest in operational excellence, including ability to execute processes comprehensively and seamlessly, including reporting.
