Database Engineer/ Database Administrator

Job Summary: JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure our database systems, ensuring high availability and performance. The role involves day-to-day operations, backup/recovery, and integration of AI/ML-driven automation for smarter data management.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Operations: Manage global database systems ensuring high availability, performance, and security compliance.

Daily Leadership: Oversee day-to-day database tasks, including monitoring, backups, disaster recovery, and solution engineering.

AI Integration: Implement AI/ML-driven practices for smarter database optimization, automation, and analytics.

Project Delivery: Lead database transformation initiatives, including modernization, migration, and governance efforts.

Agile Practices: Use agile methods and performance metrics to drive efficient, transparent project execution.

Process Standardization: Establish SOPs, automation tools, and documentation to streamline and scale operations.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Product, HR, Finance, etc.) for aligned data strategies.

Team Management: Build and mentor a global DBA team, fostering a culture of growth and high performance.

Communication: Lead change initiatives with clear, proactive updates to ensure stakeholder alignment and adoption.

Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.

6 - 15+ years of experience in database engineering and administration, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing global database teams and infrastructure.

Expert-level proficiency with relational and non-relational database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).

Extensive experience managing large-scale database environments, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, backup solutions, and performance optimization.

Demonstrated success in transforming and modernizing database operations leveraging agile, lean, and AI-driven best practices.

Experience with cloud-based database platforms and migrations (AWS, Azure, GCP). Executive-level communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders

Preferred: Experience in AI/ML-driven database operations, including AI code wrangling, AI agent development and deployment, predictive analytics, automated tuning, and anomaly detection. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and data security standards (GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2). Experience managing database infrastructure and transformation initiatives within regulated or data-intensive industries (RegTech, SaaS, digital product environments).
