Data Engineer

This role is part of Data and Analytics team which provides competence to Products Areas, Clusters and Teams to succeed in delivering business value by turning data into Insights. Expected to Utilize standards and best practices to enable Business areas to accelerate their value journey through Self-Service data & analytics, and to accomplish insights at the fingertips for Volvo Car Group. Provides opportunity to mentor developers to build quality products, contribute to multiple domains and be part of technology selection/solution architecture.

Main responsibilities

Act as Technology expert to build quality data products with willingness to self-learning and long-term commitment. Interact with Product teams, architects, and platform experts to deliver user stories on timely basis with world class quality.

• B. E, MCA, BSc, MSc, or equivalent training in Computer Science or other relevant subject area

Experience - 2 to 6 years of Industry Experience and 2 or more relevant experience

  • Support and develop products to enhance business decision making capabilities, utilizing Volvo Cars standards, best practices, and data & analytics tools
  
  
  • Strong experience in Data integration concepts in Extraction & Loading, coding transformation, Data Validation, Performance tuning on data loads, Debugging skills etc.
  
  
  • Good working knowledge in Data warehousing concepts around Relational or Columnar or Cloud based DB.
  
  
  • Ability to understand Data modeling techniques using Data mart or Dimensional modeling.
  
  
  • Proficient in programing languages like Python.
  
  
  
  

• Primary Technology Skills (Must -have)
  
  
  
  • Strong experience in SQL programming and debugging skills.
  
  
  • Strong working experience in one or more tools like MS Azure ADF / Databricks / DBT /Red Panda/ Git.
  
  
  • Extensive knowledge of Data warehouse using Snowflake and DBT.
  
  
  • Basic understanding of authorization and authentication.
  
  
  • Basic understanding of Airflow scheduling,
  
  
  
  


• Secondary Technology Skills
  
  
  
  • Working Knowledge in multiple MS Azure or AWS tool stack
  
  
  • API integration for data consumption.
  
  
  • Good understanding of Data governance and master data management.
  
  
  • Exposure to Data Quality tools to implement DQ rules as part of ETL
  
  
  • Good experience in building dashboards or scorecards using Power BI.
