Job Description

The role of a Data Consultant at the Managed Investment Data Team involves driving Morningstar funds data coverage in the alternative sector. This position requires collaborating with both global and local teams, managing relationships with asset managers and industry actors, showcasing capabilities and quality, and providing feedback from the local market to the central teams. The Data Consultant acts as the primary liaison between the centralized data team and asset managers. Key responsibilities of the Data Consultant include representing and explaining data workflows, processes, and methodologies to asset managers and clients, owning the acquisition and onboarding of new and complex data sets to enhance analytics quality, aligning priorities with local business requirements by collaborating with Data & Development Centres and global teams, and leading projects focused on improving the database to meet industry and client needs. This involves conducting business analysis on market trends and regulatory changes to design data collection plans and reflect market feedback. The ideal candidate for this position should possess a solid understanding of the investment management industry, with a keen interest in investment data. Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills are essential. Knowledge of investment data points, processes, methodologies, calculations, and fund structures is advantageous. Prior experience in project management and relationship management roles is highly preferred, along with familiarity with data methodology, quality, and processes.
