Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital is looking for a meticulous and highly responsible CSSD Technician to join our dedicated healthcare team. The CSSD Technician is vital to our hospital's infection control and patient safety efforts, ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly sterilized and available for clinical use.

Job Summary

The CSSD Technician is responsible for the complete sterile processing of medical and surgical supplies. This includes decontaminating, cleaning, assembling, packaging, sterilizing, storing, and distributing instruments and equipment used across the hospital. Your precision and adherence to strict protocols will directly support our clinical departments and safeguard our patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Decontamination:
• Safely collect and receive used instruments, trays, and equipment from operating rooms and other hospital departments.
• Operate washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and other decontamination equipment to thoroughly clean and disinfect all items according to established procedures.
• Manually clean intricate instruments with care and precision to ensure all bio-burden is removed.
• Assembly and Packaging:
• Inspect cleaned instruments for any damage, defects, or incomplete cleaning.
• Accurately assemble instrument trays, packs, and kits according to standardized checklists.
• Select appropriate packaging materials (e.g., wraps, pouches) and properly package items for sterilization.
• Sterilization:
• Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves (steam sterilizers), and other low-temperature sterilizers.
• Load, operate, and monitor sterilizers, ensuring that all parameters (time, temperature, pressure) meet sterilization requirements.
• Perform and interpret biological and chemical indicator tests to verify the efficacy of the sterilization process.
• Storage and Distribution:
• Properly label, date, and store sterilized packages in a clean, controlled environment to maintain sterility.
• Manage inventory of sterile supplies, practicing stock rotation principles (first-in, first-out).
• Accurately fill requisitions and distribute sterile supplies to operating rooms, ICUs, and other patient care areas.
• Quality Assurance and Documentation:
• Maintain meticulous records of all sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and quality control tests.
• Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, infection control guidelines, and national standards for sterile processing.
• Assist in departmental audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: A Diploma or Certificate in CSSD Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, or a related healthcare field from a recognized institution is required.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience as a CSSD Technician in a hospital setting is strongly preferred. Well-qualified freshers may also be considered.
• Knowledge:
• Thorough understanding of microbiology, infection control principles, and aseptic techniques.
• Familiarity with various types of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Knowledge of operating different types of sterilization equipment.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle heavy instrument trays.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹131,388.59 - ₹309,248.28 per year
