Job Description

Customer Service: The primary responsibility of a Counter Staff
is to provide customer service. They assist customers who approach the counter, answer questions, take orders, and ensure a positive customer experience.
Order Processing: Counter Staff often take customer orders, whether for food items in a restaurant or retail products at a store. They may use cash registers, point-of-sale (POS) systems, or order forms to process transactions.
Product Knowledge: They are expected to have a good understanding of the products or services offered at the counter. This includes knowledge of menu items, pricing, promotions, and product specifications.
Cash Handling: In roles where payments are involved, Counter Staff
handle cash, process credit card transactions, and provide change to customers. Accuracy in handling money is essential.
Food Preparation: In some cases, particularly in fast-food restaurants or cafes, they may also be responsible for basic food preparation tasks, such as assembling sandwiches, wrapping food items, or preparing beverages.
Cleanliness and Hygiene: Maintaining a clean and organized counter area is important for ensuring food safety and presenting a professional appearance to customers.
Upselling: They may be encouraged to upsell or promote additional products, specials, or add-ons to customers to increase sales.
