Costing Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Cost Estimation:

• Develop detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
• Analyze and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.

• Cost Analysis:

• Evaluate and compare actual costs to estimates and identify any discrepancies.
• Conduct cost-benefit analysis to provide insights for financial decision-making.

• Budget Management:

• Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets.
• Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for cost control measures.

• Reporting and Documentation:

• Prepare and present cost reports and forecasts to management and stakeholders.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of cost estimates, assumptions, and methodologies.

• Collaboration and Coordination:

• Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure cost-effective solutions.
• Liaise with suppliers and contractors to gather accurate cost data and negotiate pricing.

• Cost Control and Optimization:

• Implement and manage cost control procedures to ensure projects remain within budget.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

• Risk Assessment:

• Evaluate financial risks and uncertainties associated with project costs and provide justification strategies.
• Monitor and address any potential cost impacts due to changes in project scope or unexpected issues.

• Compliance and Standards:

• Ensure all cost estimates and financial practices comply with organizational policies and industry standards.
• Stay updated on relevant regulations and cost estimation best practices.

• Customer Support

• Anticipating prompt customer service with regard to additional tasks and payment enquiries.
• Strong negotiating skills and an attraction for dealing HMI RFAs are necessary.
