Job Description

As a Contract Specialist in the J.P. Morgan Workplace Solutions (WPS) team, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the drafting, negotiation, and coordination of approvals for various agreements such as Share Plan Service Agreements, Data Privacy Agreements, and other business agreements. You will collaborate with key partners across Legal, Sales, and Client Relationship Management to ensure seamless client onboarding and contract execution. This role requires you to work closely with client business or the clients legal counsel in negotiations to ensure all potential issues are resolved to a mutually beneficial position for both the client and JP WPS. Your role will involve partnering with legal counsel to resolve issues and roadblocks in negotiations, obtaining a robust understanding of JPMorgan and WPS risk positions on negotiated clauses, and collaborating with Legal and internal stakeholders to maintain negotiation guides and best practices. Additionally, you will work closely with internal groups such as Product, Operations, Compliance, Privacy, Finance, Information Security, and Implementations to resolve complex legal and operational issues. You will be responsible for reviewing client-drafted agreements, formulating negotiation strategies with Legal and Business heads, organizing and tracking contract negotiations, and regularly updating stakeholders on progress. Furthermore, you will enhance document management tools to build a knowledge bank of pre-approved terms and language and support the Client Relationship Management team with contractual documentation queries. It is essential to ensure that proper negotiation processes are followed and final documentation is filed with stakeholder signoffs. The ideal candidate for this role should have a legal background or qualification with financial services or share plan management knowledge and experience in drafting contractual documentation within the financial services industry. You should have at least 1+ years of experience in facilitating the drafting and negotiation of Investment Management Agreements or related buy-side documentation. Excellent project management, communication, and presentation skills are required, along with a detail-oriented approach and a strong inclination to learn about the business. Preferred qualifications include strong organization skills with judgment and decision-making capabilities, an understanding of contract architecture for various client types, being proactive, confident, self-motivated, and collaborative in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential, and experience with contract management tools is a plus.
