Role Summary:

The Quality Assurance Specialist - Learning and Development (EL&D) plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across all Enterprise Learning and Development products and services for Highmark Health team members in the United States and around the globe. This individual will be responsible for meticulously reviewing and testing learning content, processes, and systems to guarantee accuracy, effectiveness, and an optimal learning experience. The Specialist will also contribute to the refinement of EL&D''s quality assurance and control processes and maintain data integrity within our portfolio management system.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Content Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of all learning content (e.g., web-based training, learning documents, learning presentations, etc.) to ensure clarity, conciseness, engagement, and grammatical perfection, including spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Standards & Style Guide Compliance: Verify that all written learning content adheres strictly to Associated Press (AP) style and EL&D Style Guide guidelines.
  • Accessibility Compliance: Ensure all learning materials and platforms meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards.
  • Visual and Audio Design Review: Evaluate learning content for adherence to visual and audio design principles (e.g., rule of thirds, use of white space, consistent branding) and industry-standard graphic and visual design trends, including the correct application of style guides and templates.
  • LMS Functionality Testing: Perform comprehensive testing of web-based training content within the Learning Management System (LMS) to confirm functionality, user experience, and technical performance.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in the refinement and implementation of Enterprise Learning and Development''s end-to-end Quality Assurance and Controls processes, including establishing and overseeing control checkpoints.
  • Data Integrity Management: Oversee the EL&D portfolio management system (Monday.com) and dashboards, ensuring that all data is accurate, correct, relevant, and consistently maintained.
  • Escalation and Reporting: Appropriately escalate quality issues, risks, and concerns to relevant stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Adherence to L&D Principles: Verify that learning content and design align with established L&D best practices, including needs analysis, instructional design, development, and the Kirkpatrick method of learning evaluation.
  • Ensure the integrity and standardization of all files and documents managed across Enterprise Learning and Developments content management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or a related field: with a foundational understanding of QA principles and methodologies, preferably within a Learning and Development or content creation environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English language proficiency, demonstrating an advanced understanding of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Content Editing and Proofreading: Meticulous attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and consistency across all learning materials. Demonstrated ability to apply and rigorously enforce writing rules and guidelines, (Associated Press (AP) & American Psychological Association (APA) styles.
  • Ability to define, establish, and implement QA processes and standards for learning content and solutions from the ground up, including creating templates and checklists.
  • Proficient knowledge of all aspects of the Learning and Development lifecycle, including needs analysis, instructional design, content development, LMS implementation, and an understanding of how to access learning effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with 508 Compliance and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and their application in learning content.
  • Understanding of visual and audio design principles (e.g., rule of thirds, use of white space, composition, photography, videography, etc.) and industry-standard graphic and visual design trends, including the use of style guides and templates.
  • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and a highly organized and thorough approach to work.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), platforms like Cornerstone OnDemand, Workday Learning, Saba Cloud, Moodle, etc., and understanding how courses are published, managed, and tracked, and testing web-based content functionality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate issues clearly and professionally.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to appropriately escalate situations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite: Teams, PowerPoint Etc.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in education, Instructional Design, Communications, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in instructional design and curriculum development.
  • Experience working with US-based organizations or teams, understanding cultural nuances in communication.
  • Certifications in Quality Assurance, Instructional Design, or related areas.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and portfolio management tools.
  • Hands-on experience with any one of the AI-based eLearning authoring tools.
