Commis Chef / Culinary Trainee – and Chat Maker Job Description We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Commis Chef and Chat Maker to join our culinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about food and eager to learn in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation and cooking of a wide variety of dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. Learn and apply fundamental cooking techniques, including chopping, grilling, sautéing, baking, and plating. Help with daily mise en place , ensuring all ingredients and equipment are prepared and organized for service. Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen, including washing dishes and cleaning workstations in line with food safety standards. Participate in the development of new recipes and menu items by contributing ideas and learning from experienced chefs. Follow all kitchen health, hygiene, and safety regulations diligently. Assist in stock control, including checking inventory levels, receiving deliveries, and properly storing ingredients. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth, timely, and efficient service, especially during peak hours. Attend training sessions, workshops, and mentoring sessions to continuously enhance culinary skills. Qualifications and Requirements: A strong passion for cooking and a genuine interest in building a career in the culinary industry. Basic knowledge of cooking methods and kitchen tools is an advantage but not essential. Eagerness to learn and the ability to accept guidance and feedback from senior kitchen staff. Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple tasks effectively. Excellent attention to detail and a focus on quality. Good communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A positive attitude, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
