Proposal Engineer: Position Title: Proposal Engineer Department: Engineering Location: Sai Chambers Experience: 1015 years Reporting To: Lead Proposal Engineer / Proposals Head Role Objective: To lead end-to-end proposal activities for mechanical scope inlarge-scale EPC projects, ensuring competitive, technically sound, and timelysubmission of bids. The role demands cross-functional coordination, deeptechnical insight, and commercial acumen to support business acquisition. Key Responsibilities: Bid Management & Proposal Engineering: Review and analyze tender documents, technical specifications, scope of work, and contractual conditions for mechanical packages (static, rotary, piping, tanks, etc.). Lead preparation of complete techno-commercial proposals for EPC projects across sectors such as power, refinery, chemicals, and water treatment. Define project assumptions, clarify ambiguities, and ensure alignment of internal estimates with customer expectations. Technical & Costing Expertise: Develop cost estimation models using in-house data, vendor inputs, and benchmarking from past projects. Evaluate and validate supplier and subcontractor quotations (equipment and site works). Ensure technical compliance with applicable codes (ASME, IS, API), standards, and client specifications. Coordination & Interface: Collaborate with engineering, procurement, execution, finance, and legal teams to gather required inputs for bid submission. Interface with vendors for critical technical clarifications and price negotiations during proposal phase. Work with planning team to define execution timelines and resource loading for costing. Client Interaction & Support: Attend pre-bid meetings, technical discussions, and bid clarification meetings with customers. Present technical proposal and defend assumptions in internal reviews and client discussions. Qualifications: B.E./B.Tech Mechanical Engineering Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and packages in industrial EPC projects Hands-on experience in bid engineering and cost estimation for large-value projects Familiar with international codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, IS, API) Proficient in MS Office, Excel (for costing models), and engineering tools (AutoCAD, basic 3D software) Strong commercial awareness, communication, and presentation skills Ability to work independently and lead a proposal team when needed
