Oversee daily medical coding and billing operations across inpatient and outpatient services. Ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with regulatory and payer guidelines. Manage productivity, quality, and accuracy benchmarks for coding and billing staff.
Conduct routine and targeted audits to ensure coding accuracy, documentation integrity, and reimbursement compliance. Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to coding and billing team members. Collaborate with providers, CDI teams, and revenue cycle stakeholders to resolve coding and billing discrepancies. Monitor regulatory changes, payer policies, and industry updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
Develop and implement workflows, policies, and training programs to improve efficiency and accuracy. Support onboarding, training, and professional development of new and existing staff. Assist leadership with reporting, metrics, and process improvement initiatives.
One or more of the following certifications required: CIC, CCS, COC, CPC (additional credentials such as CCDS or CPMA preferred). Minimum 35 years of medical coding experience, including leadership or supervisory experience. Strong proficiency in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
Demonstrated knowledge of billing workflows, reimbursement methodologies, and compliance standards. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a remote team. Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
