CMM Operator

The role of a CMM Operator involves operating and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure products meet specified quality standards. You will be responsible for conducting precise measurements of components using CMM equipment, analyzing data, and creating inspection reports. Collaboration with engineering and quality control teams to troubleshoot measurement issues and implement corrective actions as needed is also a key aspect of the role. Your main responsibilities will include setting up and operating CMM for measurement of various components, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints, and performing dimensional inspections on parts and assemblies to verify compliance with specifications. Additionally, documenting measurement results in inspection reports, maintaining CMM equipment through routine maintenance and calibration, and identifying/reporting any discrepancies or nonconformities in the measurement process are crucial tasks. To excel in this role, you must be proficient in operating and programming CMM machines, possess a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and demonstrate excellent attention to detail and precision in measurements. You should also have the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, strong analytical skills to assess measurement data and identify trends, and good communication skills to effectively convey findings. The tools and equipment you will work with include Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), calipers and micrometers for manual measurements, computer software for CMM programming and data analysis (e.g., PC-DMIS, Verisurf), inspection tools and gauges (e.g., height gauges, dial indicators), and Quality Management Systems (QMS) for documentation and reporting. The ideal candidate for this position will have a background in manufacturing or engineering, with experience in quality assurance or inspection roles, especially related to CMM operations.
