Role & responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a Clusters consisting of multiple branches, ensuring alignment with the organizations strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve outreach, loan portfolio growth, financial performance, and client satisfaction within the cluster.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive business growth, innovation, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Oversee the operations of all branches within the cluster, ensuring efficiency and adherence to the organizations policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the performance of Branch managers, ensuring that they achieve their operational, financial, and client outreach targets.

  • Identify new market opportunities for growth, ensuring that the cluster expands its reach to underserved communities and clients.
  • Develop and manage strategies to improve client acquisition, retention, and satisfaction, focusing on expanding the microfinance portfolio.
  • Foster partnerships with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote the organizations microfinance services.

4. Financial Management & Reporting

  • Ensure the financial sustainability of all branches within the cluster by managing budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Monitor financial performance metrics such as portfolio quality, loan disbursement, repayment rates, and profitability.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial and operational reports to senior management, highlighting geo-wide performance and areas for improvement.

5. Risk & Compliance Management:

  • Ensure that all branches in the cluster comply with internal risk management policies, credit guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with risk management teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact the clusters operations.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of branch operations to ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations.

6. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor branch managers and their teams, ensuring high levels of performance and employee engagement across the geo.
  • Develop talent pipelines by identifying and nurturing high-potential employees for future leadership roles.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the cluster.

7. Client & Community Relations:

  • Foster strong relationships with key community stakeholders, government agencies, and clients to ensure the organizations mission of financial inclusion is achieved.
  • Address high-level client issues, ensuring that concerns are resolved promptly and effectively, while maintaining a strong reputation for the organization.

Preferred candidate profile:

  • Bachelors degree.
  • 4-6+ years of experience in the microfinance, banking, or financial services sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple regions or areas and achieving business growth targets.
  • Strong financial management experience, including overseeing budgets, profitability, and loan portfolio performance.
  • In-depth knowledge of microfinance principles, lending practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate large teams.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the cluster.
