Cloud Ops Engineer I (SRE 1)

Roles & Responsibilities

• System Reliability & Performance:

  Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of Amgen's infrastructure and applications. Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and continuously evaluate system design to find opportunities for cost optimization.

• Automation & IaC:

  Drive the adoption of automation and

  Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  using tools like

  Terraform, Ansible

  , or

  Kubernetes

  to streamline operations and enhance scalability.

• Standardization & Monitoring:

  Establish standardized operational processes and tools to ensure consistency and reliability. You will also implement and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to detect issues early and ensure rapid incident response.

• Incident Management & Continuous Improvement:

  Lead the incident management process to minimize downtime, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures. You will also foster a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging data from incidents and performance monitoring.

• Collaboration:

  Partner with software engineering and IT teams to integrate reliability, performance, and cost-saving strategies throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1-4 years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 1 year in

  Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

  or a related field.
• Experience with

  AWS Cloud Services

  .
• Experience in

  CI/CD, IaC, Observability

  , and

  GitOps

  is a plus.
• Experience with containerization (

  Docker

  ) and orchestration tools (

  Kubernetes

  ) is a definite advantage.
• The ability to learn new technologies quickly, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
