Chief Engineer- Data Center Cooling

As the Cheif Engineer I, Data Center - Thermal Management at Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) in Pune, you will lead the execution of programs and provide technical leadership in the research and development of Data Center Cooling products. Your role will involve defining the cooling technology roadmap and driving the development of high-performance solutions, including creating and validating conceptual cooling layouts for next-generation high-performance data centers. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop advanced cooling solutions such as Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs), rear-door heat exchangers, liquid manifolds, hot aisle containment systems, chillers, and facility water systems. - Evaluate and develop new cooling technologies for data center future products. - Collaborate with global partners, customers, and cross-functional Eaton teams to deliver innovative, efficient, and reliable cooling systems. - Ensure close integration of designs with mechanical and electrical engineering teams for safe, optimized end-to-end system performance. In your role, you will drive Data Center cooling solution programs, engineering reviews, and ensure adherence to technical standards. You will provide guidance on complex technical issues, mentor junior engineers, evaluate new technologies, drive continuous improvement in design processes, and resolve technical challenges. Additionally, you will contribute to the overall data center architecture strategy, aligning with business objectives, and deliver robust, future-ready solutions for the data center segment. You will oversee end-to-end Data Center cooling solutions development lifecycle, from concept to validation, ensuring timely delivery of engineering work packages within scope and budget. **Qualifications:** - Masters or PhD in mechanical or electrical engineering, Energy systems, or related field. - 15+ years of experience in data center energy systems, electrical infrastructure, cooling, or related domains. **Skills:** - Deep knowledge of data center power architectures and air, liquid, and hybrid cooling systems for data centers. - Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability best practices in data centers. - Excellent communication skills and track record of publishing, presenting, or contributing to standards/industry consortia. - Familiarity with Autodesk design tools, ECLASS/Ecl@ss systems, and advanced visualization ecosystems like USD and NVIDIA Omniverse. - Business development or product strategy experience in a technology-driven environment. - Hands-on familiarity with liquid cooling components and proven success in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex technical projects.
