Job Description

Job Summary:

The Beach Terrace is seeking an experienced Chef de Partie (CDP) specializing in Chinese Cuisine. You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chefs to deliver authentic and innovative Chinese dishes, manage a kitchen station, and ensure the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

· Food Preparation & Cooking:

o Prepare and cook traditional Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, dim sum, noodles, rice, and sauces.

o Master Chinese cooking techniques such as wok frying, steaming, braising, and deep-frying.

o Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and refine recipes.

· Station Management:

o Oversee your designated station, ensuring efficient and timely food preparation.

o Ensure proper portioning, ingredient use, and smooth station operation.

· Kitchen Safety & Hygiene:

o Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards in compliance with regulations.

o Properly store and handle ingredients to prevent spoilage and cross-contamination.

· Team Collaboration:

o Work with the kitchen team to ensure seamless operations and timely service.

o Train and mentor junior chefs in Chinese culinary techniques.

· Stock Control:

o Monitor and manage stock levels, particularly Chinese spices, sauces, and produce.

o Assist with ingredient ordering and ensure proper storage.

· Quality Control:

o Ensure dishes meet the restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and consistency.

o Taste dishes before serving to maintain quality.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Experience: At least 2 years in a professional kitchen, specializing in Chinese cuisine.

· Culinary Skills: Proficiency in Chinese cooking methods and knowledge of ingredients, spices, and flavors.

· Creativity: Passion for Chinese cuisine and the ability to innovate on traditional dishes.

· Teamwork: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

· Time Management: Strong multitasking and prioritization skills under pressure.

· Hygiene & Safety: Familiarity with kitchen hygiene standards and food safety.

· Communication: Effective communication skills in a kitchen setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Formal Culinary Training (e.g., Culinary Arts Diploma) is a plus.

· High-Volume Kitchen Experience: Ability to manage busy service periods while maintaining quality.

· Language Skills: Proficiency in English.
