Job Summary:
A certified diagnostic technician in the automobile industry specializes in identifying and repairing complex mechanical and electronic issues in vehicles. They utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and tools to troubleshoot problems accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Testing: Conduct thorough diagnostic tests using specialized tools and equipment to identify issues with engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, and other vehicle components.
Problem Identification: Analyze diagnostic test results to pinpoint the root cause of mechanical and electrical problems in vehicles.
Repair and Maintenance: Perform necessary repairs and maintenance tasks based on diagnostic findings, including replacing faulty parts, adjusting systems, and ensuring proper functioning of vehicle components.
Documentation: Document all diagnostic tests, repairs, parts used, and work performed accurately in service records or computer systems.
Customer Interaction: Communicate diagnostic findings and repair options clearly to customers, including cost estimates and timelines. Address any questions or concerns they may have regarding their vehicle's condition and repairs.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer and industry standards for quality and safety. Conduct test drives or inspections to verify that vehicle issues have been resolved effectively.
Continued Learning: Stay updated with advancements in automotive technology and diagnostic techniques through training programs, workshops, and self-study. Maintain current certifications and licenses as required.
Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other technicians and service advisors to prioritize work orders and ensure efficient workflow in the service department.
Requirements:
Certification: Must hold certifications such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in relevant areas (e.g., Engine Repair, Electrical Systems, Brakes).
Experience: Typically requires several years of experience as an automotive technician, with a proven track record in diagnostic testing and repair.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment such as scan tools, oscilloscopes, and multimeters. Strong understanding of automotive systems and components.
Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously diagnose complex issues and perform repairs accurately.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions (standing, kneeling, bending) as required in automotive repair work.
Education:
ü High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is generally required.
ü Some employers may prefer candidates with post-secondary education in automotive
technology from a vocational school, community college, or technical institute. These programs often offer hands-on training in automotive repair and diagnostic procedures.
Certifications:
· ASE Certifications: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications are widely recognized in the automotive industry. Specific ASE certifications relevant to diagnostic technicians include:
ü ASE A1 Engine Repair
ü ASE A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems
ü ASE A8 Engine Performance
ü ASE L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (optional but highly beneficial)
ü Manufacturer Certifications: Many automotive manufacturers offer training programs and certifications specific to their brands. These certifications demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing and repairing vehicles of a particular brand like BMW, Mercides, Jaguar, Land rover, Porsche
Experience:
Several years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing vehicles is typically required to become proficient in advanced diagnostic techniques.
Skills:
ü Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment such as scan tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and computerized diagnostic software.
ü Strong understanding of automotive systems and components, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, and emissions controls.
ü Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential for accurately diagnosing and repairing complex issues.
Salary Offer: Rs.4,80,000/- to Rs.7,20,000/- (LPA)
Benefits: Monthly salary incrementation from starting month based on performance
Location: 18, Genuine House, Shankar Rao Naram Path, Opp Trump Tower, lower Parel, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400013.
Working Hours: 09:00 A.M. – 6:30 P.M. (Monday to Saturday) Sunday fixed off.
