Job Description

DAV Sr. Secondary school, Mogappair is looking for CDT - Music Professional to join our dynamic team and embark on a rewarding career journey

Cataloging and Classification:Catalog music materials, including sheet music, audio recordings, and multimedia resources, following standardized cataloging rules (eg, MARC format)
Classify and assign appropriate subject headings to ensure accurate and efficient retrieval
Database Management:Maintain and update the music database, including adding new acquisitions and removing outdated or obsolete materials
Ensure data accuracy and consistency across the music catalog
Metadata Creation:Create descriptive metadata for music materials, including composer, performer, genre, and other relevant information
Enhance metadata records to provide comprehensive information for users
Digital Resources:Manage digital resources related to music, including digital scores, audio files, and multimedia content
Ensure proper storage, organization, and accessibility of digital music materials
User Assistance:Assist library users in locating and accessing music materials, both physically and digitally
Provide guidance on the use of the music catalog and databases
Collection Development:Collaborate with librarians and collection development teams to assess the needs of the music collection
Recommend additions or removals based on usage patterns and collection development policies
Technical Support:Provide technical support for music-related software and systems used for cataloging and database management
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to music catalog access
Collaboration:Collaborate with other library staff and departments to integrate music resources into broader library services
Participate in library committees and projects as needed
